Dr Gupta is currently a co-founder and chief technology officer at TENACO LABS.
Previously, he headed a complex speciality and medicinal chemistry portfolio at Alembic Pharmaceutical Limited. He was also involved in establishing the commercial plant including design, capacity and hiring manpower resources for complex API portfolio. He was also involved in successful in- licensing of a nano-particle based technology platform. Prior to joining Alembic, he was heading a commercially viable drug delivery project (in collaboration with The University of Queensland, Australia) funded by the DBT (~5 million INR) under the Biotech Ignition Grant Scheme.
He holds a Doctoral Degree in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Queensland under the supervision of Prof. David Fairlie. In his PhD, Praveer was awarded prestigious scholarships (UQRS and UQIRTS). During his PhD, he discovered one of the first rationally designed selective inhibitors of Histone Deacetylase (responsible for the chemical synthesis of over 150 small molecules and peptides to reach to that stage). In Australia, he also spent one year as a Post-doc for a Pfizer-funded drug discovery project (responsible for design & synthesis of GLP- 1 peptides) and two years as a drug discovery chemist in an Australian-based biotech firm.
